It is typically the second degree pursued at a university or college after bachelors. Students after completing a postgraduate degree, may either enter the employment or continue with doctoral studies for further research-based specialization.

Postgraduate duration

The duration of a postgraduate degree varies depending on the country of study. In UK, a Master’s degree lasts one years, while in Australia, Canada, USA and Ireland ,the standard duration is two years. However, these timelines can vary based on the master’s degree courses selected.

For example, health science degree including medicine, dentistry, and nursing can takes three to four years in most countries.
