Master’s Degree in the UK for KSA Students

Students choose the UK for its fast-track master’s and bachelor’s degree programs. Unlike many other countries where postgraduate studies typically extend over two years, Master’s programs in the UK are generally completed in just one year. This shortened duration allows students to save both time and money, enabling them to enter the workforce sooner with a prestigious UK postgraduate degree.

UK universities are renowned worldwide for their exemplary research and teaching standards, making their postgraduate degrees highly esteemed by employers. Additionally, studying in the UK offers international students the chance to engage with a vibrant and diverse academic community, further enriching their knowledge of the subject matter and improving their English language proficiency.

How to Apply for a Master’s in the UK?

Here are the steps you can follow to apply for Master’s admission in the UK from KSA:

Even if you do not receive the CAS letter, you will still receive an email explaining the reasons for rejection. After that, you have two options: give it another try or ask an educational consultant in Saudi Arabia for help.

Before earning your Master’s degree, you can enrol in a preparation course or foundation year known as a Pre-Master’s program. Students who lack the basic subject knowledge needed or want to upgrade their English language skills enrol in the foundation year program. It helps foreign students succeed academically by improving their language, writing, and research skills.

Why Study Pre-Master’s in the UK?

Pursuing a Pre-Master’s degree enables you to explore future career pathways and expand on the knowledge you gained throughout your undergraduate studies. It offers a chance to expand your knowledge by improving your language and experiencing a different culture. A Pre-Master’s degree increases your knowledge by enabling you to pursue a full master’s degree with a better understanding.

Types of Master’s Degrees in the UK

The Master’s degree offered in the UK has two types.

Taught Master’s

The Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Engineering (MEng) are the four primary categories of taught programs. These programs range in duration from one to two years for full-time study.

Similar to a bachelor’s degree, students enrolled in a taught program are expected to attend weekly seminars, tutorials, and lectures. They may also be assessed through exams, dissertations, or projects.

Research Master

Students pursuing a research degree will assume greater responsibility for their workload and timetable. They have to complete a thesis under the guidance of a faculty member. Research master’s degrees are usually opted for by students who aim for further education, i.e. PhD. The most sought-after research degree is a PhD, which can be earned in three to four years.

The Master of Science (MSc), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Master of Research (MRes) are other forms of research degrees. These degrees are comparable to PhDs. However, the papers are substantially shorter, and the requirements are less.

Intakes in UK Universities for KSA Students

The UK has three types of intake throughout the year.

September Intake

This intake is also referred to as fall intake. Due to the increased number of alternatives, students from abroad also favour this intake when enrolling in Master’s courses in the UK. For this intake, applications typically open in February and are accepted through May.

January Intake

This intake begins in January. In the UK, it is the second kind of intake. Some candidates and students prefer this session who missed the September intake of last year. The application process for this intake starts from June to September of the previous year.

May Intake

The least popular session provided by UK institutions is the April/May intake. This is due to the fact that this is when most students take their spring break. Thus, studying in the UK becomes far less competitive as a result. This is the time when most of the vocational and practical courses are offered.
